At last we made it to the Great Wall in Beijing.  It only took two years!.  It was well worth the wait though.  The day started with heavy rain, so most visitors stayed away.  When we got to the wall at Moutianyu, we had the place virtually to ourselves.  The contrast with the crumbling mud wall we were used to seeing in Shanxi was startling.

Although very misty at first, the sun soon burned through

We reached the crest of the mountain by cable car

As the clouds cleared, the view was breathtaking - the wall disappeared into the distance

Charlotte and Matthew thoroughly enjoyed climbing the wall, although it turned a little hot as we were dressed for cold rain.

Spot the tourist!
